Matdaan
Matdaan
This is the election time and all, especially the government machinery, are shouting hard that each individual must vote. I have reservations here. Read me.
First, why call it 'MatDAAN'? If it is a DAAN, it is up to me whether I give it or not; it is not obligatory. 'MatKARTAVYA', 'MatKARM' OR 'MatDHARM' would have been more appropriate.
Second, if I was not casting my vote, was it not a vote against the system even when NOTA option was not available?
Third, even if I vote, my problems are -
1. I don't have means to understand the true colors of the candidates. I won't be surprised if he/she changes to party next day for being in power.
2. The candidate may be acceptable but the party may not appeal me. Or the party may be acceptable but the candidate may be a mere rubber stamp.
So, why should I vote?

Noise Nuisance
Noise Nuisance
I am tired of arguing with the guys on this issue of making noise for their benefit at the cost of others.
A Mandir around us never shies away from making us better human beings through the loud speakers.
A month back saw two guys in morning around 5.45 AM. They have been coming to the colony for years together one playing a harmonium around his neck and other jhanj singing the glory of Lord Ram. They were about to start when I questioned them, ‘who has given you the right to disturb others early in the morning?’ They replied, ‘early kahan hai, 6 baz raha hai!’ I tried to tell them that there are guys who have just returned from night duty trying to sleep, students who studied till late night and getting well-deserved sleep, mothers who could not sleet till 3 PM as the infant kept crying, guys working late communicating with the US offices till late night and…!’ I was half way when they knew they are wasting their time, turned, started their music and continued.
Around Diwali a hawker kept using loud speaker selling Rangoli for many days together.
Today had heated arguments with a sabjiwala Hawker who was using loud speaker connected to a tape recorder rattling the rates of the vegetables.
Who will control such nuisance?
